Defibulation

The restoration process is taking its time! Today I finally was successful at unseizing the tractor's engine. The process:
Soak cylinders with diesel fuel (about two gallons).
Let soak for about two months.
Try loosing the seized engine by rocking the tractor back and forth.
Remove head and replace diesel fuel with rubbing alcohol.
Let soak overnight.
Loosen the seized piston by hitting it with a fire log the right size and a big hammer.
The result: the engine moved. Elation!
Now there is more work and waiting to do until the engine will move freely. But a major hurdle had been crossed. Praise the Lord.

Comments:
Any update on progress with the restoration of this tractor?

Was out there last on Christmas Day. With Ron's help we rocked and cranked the tractor until the engine turned freely. Since then I've cleaned up the cylinder and gotten the head rebuilt (here in Camrose. The day I was to go back to the farm(60 miles), we got a bad snow storm. We have continued to have a record amount of snow. I hope to get out there in a few days and will update y'all then. In the mean time the cylinder head (it's quite heavy) has been serving as extra traction in the back of my pickup.

Glad to hear that you found a dual purpose for that heavy piece of machinery!
